Personal Training sessions

You can choose between either one or two in-person training sessions per week with Catherine at the Pleasance Gym, located at the University of Edinburgh.

Tailored personal training sessions at Edinburgh University’s Pleasance Gym are the cornerstone of this service. Whether you opt for one or two sessions per week, you’ll receive personalised guidance to ensure every workout is safe, effective, and aligned with your goals. These sessions provide the perfect opportunity to refine your technique, challenge your limits, and stay accountable to your fitness journey.

Scheduled on Mondays or Thursdays, these sessions are designed to fit seamlessly into your routine. The Pleasance Gym’s state-of-the-art facilities offer everything we need to make the most of your time. Plus, with my focused support, you’ll leave every session feeling stronger, more confident, and equipped with the tools to carry your progress beyond the gym.

Personalised training plan

Designed by a Sport & Exercise Scientist with more than a decade of experience in delivering fun and challenging programmes.

Catherine will write your workouts based on your goals, preferences, what equipment you have access to, and the time you have available around your busy life. She'll also strategically plan your workouts around other exercise you enjoy.

Your training plan will be available on the app, where you'll have access to video demonstrations and notes that personalise exercises directly to you.

No more faff with spreadsheets, or getting frustrated with trying to piece together your own workouts - we’ll regularly review and adapt your workouts to make sure you continue to make progress.

Keep track of progress

How often do you find yourself walking into the gym and completely forgetting the weight you were lifting during your previous workout session?

That frustrating cycle ends here.

With the app, you will have the ability to easily record the weight and number of repetitions for each workout, ensuring that you can effectively track your progress over time and make informed decisions about your training.

Catherine will review your logged workouts in each of your 1-1 check ins to make sure you’re adequately challenging yourself.

Follow on Demand Classes

Whether you workout at home, in the gym or just want to try something a bit different every now and then.

You’ll have access to a growing collection of on demand, follow-along classes with Coach Catherine.

If you want to try these out, all you need is a space, a mat and a resistance band.

biweekly written check ins

One of the most important elements of 1-1 coaching.

These written check ins keep us connected, allow you to reflect, hold you accountable, and let us collaboratively find solutions to barriers.

They helps us to adjust your targets based on what's going on in your life. Because, the majority of results happen outside of the gym!

As we work through the barriers you face, Catherine will share additional resources designed for you... from nutrition, exercise, mindset, habits, stress relieving tactics, and much more.

You get to choose your check in day from a few options - you can complete your check in on your phone.

You’ll receive feedback from Catherine within a 24 hour time window.

Habit tracking

Turn small, consistent actions into lasting change.

Habit tracking is a powerful way to stay accountable and see the progress you’re making beyond the numbers on the scale or in the gym.

  • At the state-of-the-art University of Edinburgh Pleasance Gym, which is conveniently located in the heart of Edinburgh, Scotland, you will find an inviting and well-equipped environment.

    When we work together, we will have access to the expansive main gym spaces that are fully stocked with a wide array of equipment.

    Additionally, there is a private, bookable area available for our sessions, which is perfect if you are feeling nervous or simply wish to focus on building your confidence in a quieter setting.

  • When you first sign up you may choose between one or two sessions per week.

    I can help guide you here based on your experience level and your goals.

  • You will be able to book a regular slot with me on a Monday or Thursday between 6am - 1pm.

    Each session is 55 minutes in length.

    A session cancellation and no-show policy applies when you sign up.

  • Yes. If you would like to train independently in the gym outside of our organised face-to-face sessions, I will write workouts for you to follow so that you have structure and progression.

    You will be able to view these workouts on the app.

  • Yes. I’m a certified nutritionist and have a degree in Sports and Exercise Science - so I am well placed to give you guidance with nutrition, whether you’re trying to lose fat, gain muscle or feel healthier.

  • Yes. You’re getting the full VIP treatment and so your training plan is designed to meet you where you’re at, including equipment availability, preferences and time constraints.

    It is truly 1-1 coaching.

  • When you first sign up you’ll choose your check in day from a few different options. This will be your allocated check in day every second week.

    On your check in day you’ll be able to see a form in the app.

    Please complete the form with as much detail as possible before the end of the day.

    Catherine will reply to you with feedback within 24 hours.

    You take ownership of your check ins, plan time in your diary to do them each week. The clients who put more effort into their check ins, get more back and thus better results.

  • No. There’s NO prerequisite of already being strong and fit. You’re here because you want to work on these… we’ve all got to start from somewhere.

    I’ll create your workouts to cater to your experience and fitness level.

    When you sign up you’ll be able to tell me about your previous experience so I can make sure that you’re adequately challenged.

  • Yes, of course. We can have a conversation about whether I’m the right coach for you, before you decide to invest in personal training.

    I’ll ask you more about your goals and experience and you can ask me anything you’d like to know.

  • Yes, we can work around your injury.

    I am not qualified to treat or rehab injuries but you are welcome to sign up in conjunction with guidance from a sports injury specialist.

  • No need to join a Facebook group or download another app, the group chat is housed in the same app as your training programme.

    You’ll be invited to the group chat automatically upon signing up.

  • No, that’s not how I operate. I want you to be here and excited about working together.

    Personal training and coaching with me is a monthly subscription where I recommend you commit to at least 3 months when first starting out.

    Most clients stay with me for 3-6 months, some for even longer than that. Some of my clients have been working with me for 3 years.

    I understand that circumstances change, therefore you can get in touch at any time if you need to cancel or change the level of support you’re receiving. See the cancellation FAQ further down the page.

    You can cancel or change your monthly coaching subscription by emailing me at least 5 days before your next payment is due.
